St George's Church 2026 Spring Festival of Creative Arts

This was our second Creative Arts Festival, led by one of our very talented artists, Lyn Farhi.

The festival was held in our church hall over 2 days and displayed sculpture, furniture, pictures, embroidery, and many other works of art. We also held workshops and a concert with music and dance performances.

As an Eco Church, we decided to have an area promoting recycling and waste management. Sei Brown had an artist friend who had made some amazing sculptures from recycled items which would have normally gone into Landfill. These were of great interest to all, and the children loved the large one which looked like a robot. We were able to have a Waste Hierarchy poster above the stand and a notice promoting the Onehunga Community Recycling Centre, Aotearoa’s first Māori and Pacifika -led community recycling hub and reuse shop..

We were reminded of the beauty of God’s creation in many ways. Jane Vogels' interactive floral display included a water feature that reminded us of God’s living water. We are grateful to all those who contributed and inspired us as we celebrated God’s gifts of creativity. We were also reminded of the need to actively care for our natural environment.
