Eco Church NZ Self-Assessment Worksheet

Te Puka Aromatawai Takitahi

Where is your church currently at?

Work through some questions in this worksheet to see where your church is at on its Eco Church journey. Based on A Rocha UK’s Eco Church survey, we have customised the questions for the Aotearoa New Zealand context. The questions takes you through five key areas of church life:

  • Leadership, worship and teaching | Te Hautūtanga, te Korōria ki te Atua, me te Whakaako

  • Church buildings and facilities | Ngā Whare Karakia me ngā Rawa

  • Church land and grounds | Te Whenua o ngā Hāhi

  • Community and global engagement | Te Kōtuitui Hapori, te Kōtuitui o te Ao

  • Sustainable living | Te Noho Toitū

Going through the Eco Church self-assessment worksheet does not have to be a daunting task. It is meant to engage your team to think outside the box, to inspire your team with new ideas, and to allow your team to celebrate the things you already do as a church!

Find out how one Eco Church, Kāpiti Anglicans tackled the self-assessment worksheet with participation from the whole congregation!

Our worksheet is standalone - it is not currently linked to the points and award system used by A Rocha UK. We are currently focused on supporting churches through resources and self-assessment tools but we hope to be able to offer an award system similar to A Rocha UK's Eco Church program in the future if there is enough interest in this. During this time, we are using the opportunity to gather feedback on the self-assessment questions and to revise them based on feedback. So email us if you’d like to give us feedback.
